retreat and workshops

This event was designed
for mothers who have experienced the loss of a child. This year’s conference
was uplifting to mothers physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
The speakers shared insights on grief and the tools with which to cope. Many of
the mothers made new friends who are walking on the same road and now journeying
together towards healing. At the conference we were able to give and receive
comfort from one another. It was a time of sharing, caring, bonding and the
making of lasting friendships, as well as a special time of celebrating and
remembering our children through a beautiful candlelight program and balloon
release. Here are some of the photos of the event. We hope they will bless your
heart and encourage you on your journey.

Reflections from some of our moms .......
From Anne......
I like being with people who understand my pain and sorrow. The conference gives me a safe place to talk and explore my feelings.
From Jan.......
God met me at the conference by just assuring me through the teaching and sharing that He loves me. He loves Cathy and He took her home at the "appointed time" even though it was a suicide. I hold on to Psalm 139 and it helps me accept her death and not blame myself as much. It still hurts but most of the time I am able to have peace.

God met me in my room. I got to know my roommates on a very personal and intimate level. We had our own circle of love and the love of God was in the middle of it.

God met me where I was at. I didn’t have to pretend that I don’t still grieve after 6+ years. I was impacted at the end of the conference – the light in the eyes of the new moms that weren’t sure they should have been there. The glowing smiles that were firmly placed by God’s grace on their faces and that replaced the sadness if at least for the weekend – giving them hope for a future walking, hand in hand with Jesus, one day at a time. I am hanging on to the resources and encouragement from other facilitators and taking home and delivering the love and hope.

I was engulfed in love, love of God, and the love and fellowship of the women. I believed God was going to make me aware of His concern for me – "I must be quiet and seek peace" – He gave me rest.

At the workshop about suicide, I was getting emotional and relating to what they were saying and no one was sitting next to me. And yet, I felt someone pat my bare arms – I actually felt fingers on my arm, and it was incredibly encouraging.
