Nehemiah 2:17 “Then I said to them, ‘You see the trouble we are in. Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.’”
Nehemiah saw a terrible need. The walls of Jerusalem had been destroyed. Instead of being critical and complaining, he took leadership and rolled up his sleeves and went to work. He left what was comfortable and returned to his homeland and encouraged his people to help rebuild the wall. He knew it was not going to be an easy task. He made a commitment for a great cause, to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. He prayed; he planned and courageously took the step of faith to see his vision completed. He was successful and completed his mission in fifty two days.
Umbrella Ministries was founded with a mission to rebuild lives amidst the destruction of grief. The city walls of our lives have been shattered, love lost, lives crumbled and hearts assaulted. How do we rebuild this wall that has crumbled all around us? We do it one brick at a time, one tear at a time and one prayer at a time. This will not be an easy rebuild, and it certainly will take more than fifty two days; in fact, we will be in a constant state of construction until our dying days. This will be the hardest work we have ever done. It will take every bit of our physical, emotional and spiritual energy that we can give it, but with the Lord helping us, we cannot fail. The rebuild has begun. I pray you have begun the hard work and will be faithful to complete it. What a beautiful sight it will be.
Lord, we are here, ready to work and rebuild. Give us Your strength and courage when we have nothing left to give.
