Time for another year, and as many people do, it also seems like a good time to take stock of our lives. I am not one for New Year’s resolutions because I usually don’t make it past the first week, but I do know there are things in my life I want to improve on. I find as I start to look at myself, the list tends to grow quite long. I would love to be more patient with people and things that frustrate me. To be content with where I am financially would bring me such peace, and, of course, would take care of the worrying that I let creep into my thoughts throughout the day. To look at all I need to improve on can sometimes overwhelm me. It seems when I concentrate on one thing I want to improve on, everything else falls by the wayside. I can only try to focus on one fault at a time. I cannot change these things on my own. What I can do is, each day of my life, start my day spending quiet time with the One who knows my heart. He understands my shortcomings and my struggles. I might not be able to change all my shortcomings in a day, in a week or in a year, but ever so slowly as I walk with Him and talk with Him, little by little, He will continue to do a good work in me. He promises that and He also promises to be faithful to complete it.

Lord, it’s a new year. If we decide to make any resolutions, let it be one that we spend more time with You!
