John 12:21 “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”
Since the loss of life in Connecticut, I have heard many people ask, “Where is God?” I too wonder why this tragedy happened and why God did not stop that young man from wreaking havoc on this school. I am sure each one of us asked the same question when we were faced with the loss of our child. I don’t have any answers for why these things happen. I believe even if the Lord Himself came down and told us face to face why we lost our child, no explanation would do. I am sure our response would be, “You are God -- You couldn’t come up with a better way!” What I do know is that God was with our child on the day He took them home and I know He was there that day in Connecticut with each one of those children and teachers. I also know God puts people around us to show us God’s love and comfort. The whole world has responded to these families with love and support. In each note that is sent, each hug that is felt and each tear that is shed, Christ appears. Think back to all the people the Lord sent your way in your grief -- that was Christ. He continually makes Himself visible by the people that surround us each and every day. So, where is God? He is in each one of us when we reach out in kindness and comfort those who are hurting. We are His hands and feet. Let us pray that those whose lives we touch will feel they have seen Christ in us.
Lord, You are the example of comfort and hope. Let us show all we meet who You are.
