Thoughts Under the Umbrella

Ephesians 4:1   “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”

When I look around and see all the suffering that is happening in the world we live in, I can feel so overwhelmed.  I try to open myself up to offer a helping hand but I sometimes feel I should be doing more.  We as humans, and I believe especially as women, have a desire inside of us to heal all of God’s hurting people.  Each one of us is designed by our Creator with our own unique gifts.  There is no one just like us to do the work God has planned for us.  We often compare our good works to what others are doing.  We have the desire to be able to step in their shoes.   We might feel they are accomplishing so much more than we are.  Their world seems vast compared to our little corner of the world.  We pray to increase our territory but what are we doing with the territory we reside in?  What we need to understand is that we, unto ourselves, are our own ministry.  Our ministry is wherever we are and whoever has stepped in our paths on any given day.  The Lord uses people each and every day, right where they are, to change the lives of others.  Instead of putting pressure on ourselves to do more, maybe our prayer should be one of being strengthened by the Holy Spirit in our innermost being.  We need to pray that we are deeply rooted in God’s love so those who inhabit our world will feel they have experienced something special.

Lord, I pray others can see in us how wide and long and high and deep is your love for us, especially those in our little corner of the world.
