Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
As we continue to prepare for our 20th Anniversary Conference, the minutes are ticking by. We have so many details to work out. We are making lists and checking them twice. Our desire is that every woman who has lost her child would be able to join us in this weekend of comfort and hope. We plan every detail with God’s leading. We also try to address the hurting hearts of all of the moms who will be attending. We plan as best we can and then we have to turn all of it over in faith.
I can only imagine the list playing in Joshua’s head when Moses summoned him and appointed him to be the leader of the Jewish nation. Joshua would be the one chosen to lead the Jewish people into the Promised Land. He had to care for three million stubborn and rebellious people. You know he had a list that he checked more than twice. When he had covered all his bases he finally had to trust that he had done the best he could and would have to rely on someone bigger than himself. Who did Joshua rely on? What did Joshua rely on? He relied on his faith in the God who brought them out of Egypt. He knew God was with him and went before him to take care of all the things Joshua could not have foreseen. He relied on God to follow through with His promises.
So as we walk through the next month of planning, I pray we learn a lesson from Joshua about faith. We are doing our best. We are praying over each detail. Most important, we are praying for the moms. We pray for a conference that offers moms a safe place to share their broken hearts. We pray they leave filled with a hope that has eluded them in their darkest moments. The Lord has His hands on this ministry. He is directing the steps of the moms who will be attending. He is directing us who are involved in the planning. So let’s stand on our faith. There will be details we have overlooked. Things might not go exactly as we have planned but we know the Lord himself goes before us and will be with us and we can trust that He will make good of His promises.
Lord ,we want faith like Joshua’s to lead these women to a promised land. A land where they will be encouraged, loved and comforted. We know You have gone before us as we prepare for the weekend. We pray for the moms who will be attending. Some of them might be fearful of what they are walking into. You have gone before them and we will be waiting for them with open arms.
